Bangkok--20 Oct--The Sukosol,Bangkok Marisa Sukosol Nunbhakdi, Executive Vice President of Sukosol Hotels, has been recognized for her outstanding ongoing commitment to reduce the impact of the hospitality industry on our environment with a prestigious award from the Federation of Business and Professional Women's Associations (BPW Thailand). In partnership with USAID LEAD, this initiative honours the importance of women's roles in operating businesses and their concern about environmental issues. "I'm extremely grateful to be one of BPW Thailand's Green Growth Award recipients. Together, we must continue to highlight the importance of environmental sustainability in the business community," said Mrs. Nunbhakdi. A long-time advocate for green business, Mrs. Nunbhakdi is the Chairperson of Environment for the Thai Hotel Association and a committee member of the Green Leaf Foundation, as well as pioneering countless environmental initiatives through Sukosol Hotels' five properties in Bangkok and Pattaya. "I see the tourism industry growing rapidly which often has a negative impact on the environment and local communities, so it's time for all of us to give back and go green." she said. Under her leadership, every Sukosol hotel has a dedicated "LovEarth" team, responsible for tasks as diverse as implementing back- and front-of-house recycling procedures to launching new energy saving measures to organizing field trips to support better water management in rural communities to collecting and distributing donations for worthy causes. "Khun Marisa positively motivates each of her hotels to develop new green initiatives and then ensures they follow through to achieve great results," said Dr. Chonchanok Viravan, who headed this project for BPW Thailand. "Beyond that, she works with hotel brands across the hospitality industry to make a real difference. She is an excellent role model for other business leaders." Earlier this year, Mrs. Nunbhakdi was also instrumental in spearheading Thailand's first green procurement conference, with the objective of bringing together hotel decision-makers from around the country with emerging green product developers and service providers. With more than 400 enthusiastic attendees, this ground-breaking conference proved without a doubt just how important and relevant the topic of sustainability is to the hospitality industry.
