Bangkok--4 Dec--Thai Airways International
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) today arranged for an exhibition of the Loy Krathong tradition at THAI's check-in area of the Suvarnabhumi Airport departure hall, with Mr. Charamporn Jotikasthira (third from right), THAI President, welcoming passengers to take part in the floating of candlelit krathongs or floral vessels on the water to pay homage to the Goddess of Water.
THAI also arranged for classical Thai dance performances, Thai musical instrument performances, as well as inviting passengers to participate in traditional simple Thai dances. The activity was supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Suvarnabhumi Airport authority.
Loy Krathong is one of the Kingdom's most charming traditions admired by visitors from around the world. It is celebrated on the full moon of the 12th month in the Thai lunar calendar, this year falling on 25th November. The highlight of Loy Krathong, however, is when festival-goers float candlelit krathongs or floral vessels on the water under the light of the full moon, creating a stunning sea of glittering lights.
