The Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) led by Secretary-General, Mr. Karun Sakulpradit (center), and Mr. Nopporn Makkongkaew (2nd from left), Director of Education Development for a Special Administrative Zone in the South, received a 1.5 million Thai baht grant from Banpu Public Company Limited, one of Asia's leading energy companies, led by Mrs. Udomlux Olarn (3rd from left), Head of Corporate Affairs. These donated funds will be used for restoration and development of learning facilities for students and teachers at 10 schools in a special administrative development zone in five southern Thailand border provinces, in order to build morale while supporting local scholastic infrastructure.
Since 2007, Banpu Public Company Limited has financially supported 92 schools affected by political turmoil in the Southern provinces of Narathiwat, Pattani, Yala, Songkla and Satun. For nine consecutive years, a total of 13.8 million baht, including the 1.5 million baht granted this year, has been donated to school in this region.
