Bangkok--8 Dec--Orient Aviation Media Group
Tony Tyler, the director general and CEO of the International Air Transport Association, has been chosen as the 2015 Orient Aviation Person of the Year and the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement award for his services to the industry.
Only two other industry leaders, the late Peter Sutch, chief executive and then chairman of Cathay Pacific Airways and Rob Fyfe, CEO of Air New Zealand, have received Orient Aviation Lifetime Achievement Awards.
Publisher and editor-in-chief of the Orient Aviation Media Group, Christine McGee, said Tony Tyler was chosen as the 2015 Orient Aviation Person of Year because he was an outstanding airline CEO, a groundbreaking and charismatic leader of the International Air Transport Association and an individual of the highest professional integrity.
The IATA director general and CEO, who will step down as the association's head in June next year, will be presented with his awards at the Orient Aviation Person of the Year dinner in Hong Kong in February.
