Thai bourse announces winners of 18th SET youth music competition

Bangkok--19 Jan--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), in conjunction with the College of Music, Mahidol University, has recently announced the winners of the 18th "SET Youth Music Competition", among youths with musical talents. The project aims to encourage young musicians to explore and cultivate their talents and potential up to global stage. The competition creates opportunities for students from primary school through undergraduate levels, aged not over 25, to join. Contestants can perform any type of music using non-electronic instruments, including singing. The gold medal winners were elementary school student Nathan Vidhayasirinun, playing a Piano, from Assumption Samut Prakan School; secondary school student and pianist Supawee Srisurichan from Sooner The Classical Music School of Music; high school student Nitchan Pitayathorn from College of Music, Mahidol University; playing a saxophone, and undergraduate Numpark Sribanditmongkol, playing Erhu from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. SET President Kesara Manchusree said that this contest was one of SET's continuous projects that promotes cultures and arts, demonstrating corporate social responsibility by continuously enhancing youth potential and in line with SET's plan to enhance and develop Thai youth from saving, money management to other significant skills. This musical competition has proven to be effective in encouraging youth to utilize their free time productively, provided the opportunity for talented youth to perform on stage, the more their musical skills would excel. "I'm really impressed with the talent of Thai youth today and would like to encourage all 400 youth who participated in this project. We believe that this competition would inspire and pave the way for youth to pursue their dreams for a bright future and bring recognition to themselves and the country," Kesara added. Warawut Sumawong was the Chair of honorary committees for final round. The honorary committee members were Naowarat Pongpaiboon, Patama Leeswadtrakul, Thanit Sriklindee, Pratak Faisupagarn, Santi Kiranand, Narit Sektheera, Winai Panturak, Sriprasit Boonvisut, Vinai Sotthibandhu, Borwonpong Supasopon, Santi Lun Phe, Passakorn Suwannapan and Songsak Premsuk. The winners were selected from 40 youth who reached the final round, screened from 400 youths nationwide. The awards are worth a total of more than THB 1.8 million.
