Bangkok--3 Feb--PTT Mr. Noppadol Pinsupa, Senior Executive Vice President, Gas Business Unit, PTT Public Company Limited (PTT) revealed that PTT Group's gas field operators had had their annual gas field maintenance to maintain the production capacity of each field. This year 2016, there will be the maintenance of four gas fields as follows: - The four-day maintenance of Yadana gas field will take place during February 20-23, 2016. The maintenance is the capacity boost of the gas rigs in order to maintain the field capacity according to the contract. The capacity of 1,100 MMSCFD will be lost during the maintenance periods. - The 10-day maintenance of Zawtika gas field will take place around March this year. The maintenance is the rig capacity boost in order to maintain the field capacity. Therefore, 640 MMSCFD will be lost during the maintenance periods. - The nine-day maintenance of Yetagun field will take place during Songkran festival April 2016. The maintenance includes the equipment improvement in order to maintain the capacity of the field. 570 MMSCFD will be lost during the maintenance periods. - The maintenance of JDA-A 18 in the overlapping Thai-Malaysian development area is the connecting phase to maintain the platform and equipment setting to maintain the field capacity according to the contract. Therefore, 420 MMSCFD will be lost during the maintenance. The maintenance period is scheduled during July to August 2016. "PTT have worked closely with many parties, government agencies, filed operators, major industrial users, to carefully plan annual maintenance work periods. All process and procedure have been managed and planned in advance. PTT has reserved other fuels to substitute gas to make sure that power users would not be affected by the annual maintenance. There have been higher-than-planned power demand since the end of December 2015 and unplanned shutdowns of some of the power plants. By postponing and managing maintenance periods, requesting more gas from the operators, and importing more liquefied natural gas (LNG), diesel, and fuel oil to feed the system, PTT could maintain the gas supply capacity. However, PTT has been developing the gas pipeline and gas supply network to manage risk from gas lost due to annual gas field maintenance to guarantee that the country will have a sustained gas supply" said Mr. Noppadol.
