Soi Dog Foundation to hold mobile adoptions event for dogs rescued from the illegal dog meat trade in Bangkok

Bangkok--4 Mar--TQPR On Saturday the 5th of March Soi Dog Foundation will be holding its first ever mobile adoptions event for dogs rescued from the illegal dog meat trade. In 2013 an estimated 500,000 dogs per year were being exported illegally to Vietnam. Now the number of trafficked dogs has decreased significantly from 2013 to 2015 – from over 500,000 per year to around 50,000. This is due largely to Soi Dog's successful poster campaign in the north east, and the efforts of our undercover agents in these areas. Currently there are over 1100 dogs living in a purpose built shelter in northern Thailand all rescued from this trade of shame. The vast majority are very friendly and adoptable. The event will be from 5-8pm at the front yard, Huamark Sports Complex, Sports Authority of Thailand. There will be dogs rescued from the illegal dog meat trade at the event for the whole family to meet, Soi Dog merchandise for sale, and a raffle and giveaways. The adoption team will be on hand to chat with any prospective adopters to ensure that all the animals go to good homes. Soi Dog does not charge any adoption fee and any dog adopted from Soi Dog is fully vaccinated, sterilized and micro chipped. "These dogs are really very loving and friendly and would do well in a family home. We hope to see many people attend on the day. Adopting a Soi dog or cat means you give them that chance to live a happy life in their forever home" said Cristy Baker, Adoptions Manager at Soi Dog Foundation. Soi Dog would like to thank the sponsors for this event including Huamark Sports Complex Sports Authority of Thailand, Shamu Shamu Pet shop and Royal Canin pet food.
