Bangkok--9 Mar--Tesco Lotus
Under the Pracha Rat framework, Tesco Lotus has been working with the Department of Agriculture to turn rice farmers in Thung Kula Rong Hai area in Roi Et province into vegetable growers during the dry season. Currently, Tesco Lotus purchases 300 kilograms of morning glory per day from the farm, with a plan to increase the daily volume to 500 kilograms to meet the demands of its customers in the northeast. Since the start of the project in January 2016, more than 10,000 kilograms of morning glory has been purchased from the farm by Tesco Lotus. Plans are in place to plant other types of crops to generate extra income for rice farmers during the drought.
