Bangkok--13 Mar--Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok
Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok is wholeheartedly committed to sustainability and has recently tied-in its latest corporate social responsibility effort with the Chinese culture through paper mache creations inspired by the Year of Monkey.
All paper mache monkeys created by more than 25 colleagues represent the hotel's care for the environment, as it uses recycled newspapers instead of the hard-to-degrade foam that causes environmental pollution. All paper mache monkeys are on view in the lobby areas of the hotel's Shangri-La Wing and Krungthep Wing starting February 2016.
"Sawasdee Year of the Monkey" is a creation jointly designed by representatives from Human Resources and Accounting and Finance Departments. This monkey is a great example representing Thailand, the Land of Smiles, and also incorporates the gracious Thai hospitality with a "wai", which means all guests visiting the hotel are always welcome and very well treated. The same monkey creation based on Thai hospitality with a big smile also applies to the "Sexy Monkey" sitting peacefully and watching guests passing by in the hotel lobby.
The housekeeping team showcases femininity by combining all the elements of a pretty woman into a paper mache named "Princess Bride", while the food and beverage service team has created a "Model Monkey". As the hotel welcomes different types of guests ranging from business and leisure travellers to even supermodels, this monkey surely represents attentive service that lets guests enjoy each and every time at the hotel through its well-groomed colleagues.
The "Muay Thai Monkey" is inspired by a famous combat sport of Thailand that has become widespread internationally. This creation of the engineering team represents a Thai boxer in the traditional Muay Thai pants that many foreigners seek as a souvenir gift. The outstanding "Happy and Prosperous" paper mache monkey in red is exclusively created by the hotel's area manager and general manager, Mr. Phillip Couvaras.
Other paper mache monkeys include the "Eternal Monkey" to bring wealth and prosperity to guests, and the "Jolly Joy" in a friendly and welcoming impression, just like the sales and marketing team who always delights with their great personalities when meeting clients, the "Super Monkey" who always willing to help guests in a delightful Thai culture, created the "Healthy Monkey" with muscular arms and legs in an athletic outfit and the "Captain Ape".
