Mr. Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO of Thai AirAsia, said Thai AirAsia is very proud that all of its Thailand-China connections have been so well received and that in 2015 Chinese users of the website Weibo.com voted the carrier "Best of Airline" in the Best of Thailand ranking by the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Thai AirAsia operates the most Thailand-China flights, flying to 13 destinations on 19 routes in 25 flights a day (including Bangkok-Shantou).
"Shantou is a city in the southeast of China that has a strong connection to Thais of Chinese descent as it is the homeland of the Teochew people who emigrated to Thailand. Many of the city's travel sites will be familiar to Thais, such as the Tiger God Shrine, which was recreated in Thailand, the Ruby Goddess Shrine as well as the Tai Hong Kong Shrine, the birthplace of Thailand's Poh Teck Tung Foundation. With its food also familiar, we are sure that our Bangkok-Shantou addition will only bring Thailand and the city closer" Mr. Tassapon said.
Shantou is located in Guangdong province. AirAsia will be flying direct from Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok to the city's Jieyang Chaoshan Airport, offering a connection to 3 major cities that include Shantou, Chaoshan and Jieyang. Flight FD 850 will leave Bangkok at 6.20 hrs to arrive in Shantou at 10.30 hrs while return flight FD 851 will depart Shantou at 11.15 hrs for arrival in Bangkok at 13.40 hrs. The new route is expected to be well received by both Thais and Chinese alike.
For the new Bangkok-Shantou route, AirAsia is offering a promotional fare starting at only 1,290 THB per trip. Book today to 3 April 2016 for flights from 27 May 2016 onward. Find more information and tickets at www.airasia.com or at any ticketing channel.
