The country's premier event dedicated exclusively to e-commerce and online businesses and seminars by leading gurus and experts, aims to support and propel Thai entrepreneurs to enter world market
N.C.C Exhibition Organizer Company Limited or NEO, Thailand's leading organizer of international trade and consumer exhibitions, is organizing the e-Biz Expo 2016, an exhibition dedicated exclusively to all aspects of e-Business and online technology during June 9th-11th at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. Held for the second year, the theme e-Biz Expo 2016 is Digital in your Hand : Gateway To ASEAN e-Commerce & Digital Business, highlighting the importance of the digital economy. This year, the e-Biz Expo 2016 has received support from both the private and government sectors including the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, the Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce, The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), Electronic Transactions Development Agency (Public Organization) and Thai e-Commerce Association. Private sectors who have once again gathered this year to provide support to this event include Ascend Group, Kerry Express, Bank of Ayudhya Public Company Limited, Paypaid, Ready Planet and Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, among others.
Visitors will have the opportunity to meet with more than 100 booths providing products and services from leading Thai online and IT companies, representing three essential elements of the online and commerce business: 1) e-Commerce & Cross-Border e-Commerce 2) e-Payment and 3) e-Logistic for Business. In addition, this exhibition also features E-commerce seminars and workshops hosted by local and international speakers and experts, business matching activities, and the opportunity to network with people in the e-Commerce business. Over 10,000 people are expected to participate in this event.
Khun Bussaya Prakobthong, General Manager of NEO, related that the e-Biz Expo held last year received a very positive feedback and great collaboration from government and private sectors.
"This is the second year that the e-Biz Expo is being held and we are expecting over 10,000 visitors and Baht 170 million transaction value. Thai markets have the fastest growth rate, when compared to the region and it is crucial that Thai e-commerce industry must keep pace with the rest of the world to grow and expand globally. This year, there are many new businesses providing a variety of services and our focus is to make e-Biz Expo 2016 an exhibition for these service providers to come together under one roof, enabling entrepreneurs to connect with them and use their service in their own businesses."
The exhibition is divided into 4 zones encompassing leading e-commerce service providers
1. E-Commerce Show featuring leading e-commerce service providers including Ascend Group, WeLoveShopping, iTrueMart, ReadyPlanet, and Chinese e-commerce giants like Alibaba, who will offer consultancy and advise on e-commerce business plan
2. E-Payment Show featuring online payment service providers for e-commerce entrepreneurs such as Krungsri e-biz by Bank of Ayudhya Public Company Limited, True Money, Paypaid
3. E-Logistic Show featuring businesses providing logistic and delivery services for e-Commerce businesses such Kerry Express, Aden and Thai Post Co., Ltd.
4. Digital Marketing including companies such as Egg Digital, Facebook and Google
5. Thai organisations such as Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce, Electronic Transactions Development Agency (Public Organization), and Thai e-Commerce Association will be at the exhibition, providing consultancy in all aspects of e-Commerce to entrepreneurs, helping to prepare and equip them with tools and knowledge to keep updated on trends in the digital economy.
The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) is a partner and supporter of e-Biz Expo. According to FTI Director General, Khun Jumrud Sawangsamud, FTI has a policy to support the growth of e-commerce businesses in Thailand by encouraging over 9,000 of their members to change from traditional trade to having an online presence. FTI has established www.ftiebusiness.com so members can set up their own online shops and catalogues. FTI sees e-Biz Expo 2016 as a great initiative and opportunity for their members to expand their business into the e-Commerce platform.
Khun Pawoot Pongvitayapanu President of Thai E-Commerce Association said that e-Biz Expo provides vast opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs. In the past year, both the number of users online and the number of hours being spent online has doubled worldwide. This has given rise to the continuous growth of online and digital businesses in Thailand.
According to the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), the total value of B2B e-commerce in 2014 amounted to Baht 1.23 trillion Baht while that of B2C was Baht 401 billion and the value of B2G (Business to Government) e-commerce was Baht 390 billion. The value of Thai e-commerce market was forecasted to be Baht 2.1 trillion, showing a growth of 3.65 percent from 2014, indicating that Thailand will become the leader in the region of Southeast Asia in term of value and growth.
With this rapid growth, the Thai E-Commerce Association sees the importance of providing relevant information to online entrepreneurs in all areas of e-commerce including basic infrastructure and legal issues, including support from the government sectors and businesses associated with e-commerce. Pawoot said e-Biz Expo 2016's objective is to support and promote Thai entrepreneurs, which is in line with that of the Thai E-Commerce Association. During this exhibition, the Thai E-Commerce Association has invited all of its members providing services in this sector to participate and will organise several e-commerce related seminars by local and international speakers.
AEC has provided increased opportunities in trade and businesses among the region, including e-commerce businesses. The Thai E-Commerce Association sees the necessity in creating a joint cooperation and agreement among the countries in the region in the area of e-commerce to facilitate the business process and ensure safety across borders. The association hopes to set up the first Asia e-Commerce Federation during e-Biz Expo 2016.
e-Biz Expo 2016 has also received widespread support from private sectors.
