Bangkok--20 Apr--KASIKORNBANK KASIKORNBANK has introduced the "KBank Joining Hands to Combat Drought" campaign, offering customers with lower water consumption an exemption from bill payment fees for water through the end of this year, to promote water saving. Also, by encouraging staff members to use water wisely, KBank aims to reduce water consumption in all of its buildings to be 30 percent below the industrial standard, in response to the national drought crisis. According to Dr. Adit Laixuthai, KBank Senior Executive Vice President, the Bank, operating under the KBank Sustainable Development Policy, is aware that the drought is an environmental threat severely affecting people's quality of life and overall economic conditions. The Bank, therefore, has placed emphasis on responsible water utilization and organized the "KBank Joining Hands to Combat Drought" initiative with two activities, namely reducing the water consumption of KBank which is also a water consumer, and promoting water conservation among the general public. Under the Bank's current strategy, plans and guidance for greater water efficiency have been established for all KBank buildings including the head office, other main buildings and 1,120 branches nationwide. In addition, the Bank's new buildings have been designed with a focus on green water and power solutions, thereby allowing KBank properties to consume 28 percent less water than the industrial standard. However, four strategies are being employed to make better use of water amid the current drought problem, which are fixing water leaks (Repair), adjusting water valves for slower flows (Re-setting), reducing vehicle cleaning and garden watering frequency (Re-scheduling), and encouraging staff members to get into the habit of saving water (Re-thinking). KBank aims to reduce its water consumption from April to June by 10-15 percent over-year, which will make KBank's water consumption to be 30 percent below the industrial standard. To encourage prudent water use among consumers, KBank will present related beneficial knowledge via all of its service channels for their understanding, with incentives for water footprint reduction. Ms. Noppawan Jermhansa, KBank Executive Vice President, said that under the "KBank Joining Hands to Combat Drought" scheme, KBank will offer incentives for customers to save water with the "Reduce Water Use, Receive Fee Waiver" campaign. Through this campaign, customers consuming less water over-month during April 1 to July 31 and making their water bill payment through K-ATMs or K-MOBILE BANKING PLUS will be eligible for two benefits. First, they will get water bill payment fees refunded by 10 Baht per month. Second, those who can reduce water use during this period for at least three months will also be given an exemption from water bill payment fees for the rest of 2016. Ms. Noppawan added that customers participating in this campaign could see a refund of up to 90 Baht through both benefits, which will be credited to customer accounts within August 15, 2016. Apart from this campaign, related information including K-Expert's water-efficient tips is being provided through the Bank's many social media channels and ATMs nationwide. Dr. Adit said the "KBank Joining Hands to Combat Drought" effort, including water conservation campaigns for both the Bank and its customers, is reflective of the KBank Sustainable Development Policy which places importance on economic, social and environmental responsibility. The Bank's operational procedure enhancement must be undertaken regularly in response to current economic and social circumstances, with the greatest efficiency for sustainable social stability.
