These technologies and solutions are prominent features in Canon's B2C products that include multifunction printers, large-format printers, and inkjet printers.
This year, we have launched a campaign called Canon Ecolism in order to help our target groups in Thailand understand our key operational principle, which is that uncompromising quality and eco-friendly technologies must be embedded in our products at every stage of the life cycle, from design, to procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and recycling. As important to us is promoting skilled Thai labor, which is paramount to our ability to provide the best product possible. We all have a part to play in conserving the environment and this is our effort to raise awareness of choosing appropriate, environmentally-friendly office supplies amongst the new generation of people in all business sectors.
With the Canon Ecolism campaign, Canon would like to draw consumers' attention to the advanced technologies that it embeds in its products, including Staple-Free Stapling, which is automatic staple-free binding that reduces staple usage, LED lighting that uses less power and saves money. Our lighting is also lead-free, complying with the EU RoHS Directive. Canon's Advanced Color RAPID Fusing technologies help reduce power consumption, and reduce CO2 emissions. Canon's unique on-demand fixing technology, which heats the fixing element during printing only, reduces power consumption by over 75% when compared with conventional machines using roller-fixing systems. Energy Saver mode conserves energy by automatically entering standby mode / power-off mode when the machine is not used for a prolonged period of time. We use plant-derived, bio-based plastic for exterior parts in which high flame resistance is necessary. Canon has reduced CO2 emissions from the manufacturing process by 20%, demonstrating our commitment to environmentally-friendly principles.
Canon Ecolism also aims to educate our customers about the assembly lines used to manufacture Canon printers, photocopiers, and large-format printers, all of which meet international standards. Many of these products are developed at the three Canon factories in Thailand, based in Ayutthaya, Prachinburi, and Nakhon Rachasima. Skilled Thai laborers construct these world-class products for global distribution. This reflects the confidence that Canon has in Thai society, and cordial relationship between Canon and Thailand. With a solid base in Thailand, Canon reinforces its position as an outstanding brand that is superior to its competitors.
