Bangkok--17 May--AirAsia The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has joined hands with Thai AirAsia to hold a competition to design livery for 2 AirAsia airplanes as part of the project "Spice Up the Sky with Thai Design", seeking to promote the beauty of Thai culture and the Kingdom's travel destinations as well as to attract domestic and foreign travelers to experience the unique charms of Thailand. Winners of the competition will see their designs painted onto Thai AirAsia airplanes. Submissions are open today to 27 May 2016. Mr. Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, Executive Director of the Advertising and Public Relations Department for the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) made known that the authority is jointly hosting an airplane painting competition with Thai AirAsia for the second year with the theme last year being "2015, Discover Thainess". He pointed out the livery attracted widespread compliments from travelers and achieved the TAT's goal of promoting unique aspects of Thailand in new and interesting ways. This year, TAT is looking to promote its new Amazing Thailand logo, which was changed from last year's and now depicts the friendly Thai smile. Nonetheless, the authority has kept its promotion of Thai uniqueness from its 2015 Discover Thainess campaign and aims to use this year's design competition to both invite Thais to take part in promoting their nation and to attract foreign travelers. Using the Amazing Thailand brand, the TAT has set 2 design concepts for the competition. The first is Amazing Thailand-Amazing Culture, which calls for contestants to present uniquely Thai ways to travel and distinct aspects of Thai culture such as the nation's friendliness, hospitality, traditions, food and values. The second is Amazing Thailand-Amazing Destination, which focuses on presenting the most beautiful and distinct travel sites, whether they be natural, cultural, architectural or just for leisure. Mr. Banyat Hansakul, Director of Engineering for Thai AirAsia, stated that the winning designs in both categories will be used to paint 2 Thai AirAsia planes, which will operate both domestic and international flights. He affirmed that AirAsia is proud to be promoting the work of Thais to the world and to help enhance the country's tourism sector. Two winners will be chosen from the competition and they will win free flights with AirAsia (code FD) on any of its routes for 1 year along with 50,000 THB cash. Two runner-ups will be able to fly with AirAsia (code FD) on any route for 6 months and receive 20,000 THB cash and a Popular Vote winner will receive 1 E-Voucher for 2 seats.
