Bangkok--18 May--Oakwood Asia Pacific
Oakwood Asia Pacific Ltd., which manages the finest serviced apartments for business and leisure travelers, announced the appointment of Sharon Seong as General Manager of the first Oakwood Studios property, which will be making its debut in Singapore in November 2016.
Seong will spearhead the opening of Oakwood Studios Singapore, the first location of the new Oakwood Studios brand of serviced apartments for Oakwood Asia Pacific Ltd., which will feature stylish apartments with eclectic tech-enabled spaces, designed for independent travelers who want to seamlessly alternate between work and leisure. The properties will be located in key cities around the world known for their vibrant cultures.
The opening of Oakwood Studios Singapore will mark a milestone for Oakwood Asia Pacific Ltd. as the property will be both the launch of the Oakwood Studios brand as well as the first Oakwood-branded property in the country since the opening of its regional headquarters in Singapore in 1997.
With Seong's extensive sales and marketing background, she will bring her expertise in pre-opening, branding, positioning and strategic market penetration to the table, which will be essential skills when launching the new brand.
Seong is no stranger to millennial travelers and their desire for unique urban experiences, with her most recent role being the general manager of The Club Hotel situated along Ann Siang Road - one of Singapore's most vibrant scenes chock-full of trendy restaurants and bars as well as boutique shops. Seong will report to Craig Bond, Vice President of Operations for South Asia and Southeast Asia, Oakwood Asia Pacific.
"The introduction of the Oakwood Studios brand marks a significant extension of the brand portfolio for Oakwood and we couldn't be more pleased to have someone with Sharon's skills and expertise opening our first Oakwood Studios property, and in such a cosmopolitan city like Singapore," said Bond. "Her background in lifestyle marketing as well as her experience with serviced apartments and hotels gives her the unique skill sets to manage this property. We are very excited about her putting this property on the map."
Some of Seong's previous roles include Country Cluster Director of Sales & Marketing for Thailand for the Ascott Group, where she oversaw the business strategy of nine properties within the region, and the Cluster Director of Sales of Ibis Hotels Singapore where she led the pre-opening of the two properties in the country which won the TTG Travel Asia "Best Economy Hotel in Asia" Award for three consecutive years. She was also actively involved in the re-branding and re-positioning of Pan Pacific Orchard.
A Singapore national, Sharon Seong holds a master's degree in International Business Management from Edinburgh Napier University and a diploma in mass communication from the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside and Griffith University.
