Bangkok--1 Jun--Krungthai Card
"KTC" or Krungthai Card Public Company Limited by Miss Janejit Ladpli (Right), Vice President for travel and leisure marketing, and Miss Pratana Jariyawilaskul (center), Founder of the Rice Marriage project, initiated a campaign at KTC where over 60 employees committed to the purchase of toxin-free and chemical-free rice from organic farmers. The event took place recently at KTC POP, Samatchawanich 2 Building on Sukhumvit 33. It was made complete by Mr. Pipat Srikam (left) – a former graphic designer who became an organic farmer in Suphanburi – who shared his experience growing of five strains of rice in an organic manner.
Developed as a not-for-profit project, the Rice Marriage project aims to elevate the society, not as a middleman, a trader or even a social enterprise, but as a matchmaker introducing the grooms (farmers) to the brides (consumers). Once the two parties have studied each other and understood the other party's needs, they commit to a rice marriage of 12 months. During this period of time, the matchmaker continues to check up on the grooms and the brides to ensure a smooth relationship. The project is not involved in the monetary aspect of the transaction as the brides make payments directly to the grooms.
