Thai bourse motivates youth table tennis talents towards Olympic dream

Bangkok--14 Jun--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), has continued to sponsor The Table Tennis Association of Thailand (TTAT) by organizing "SET Star Junior Table Tennis" project for the third year after overwhelming success at SEA Games and at Asian level, aiming to intensively promote young table tennis playersleading towards 2018 Youth Olympic Games, as part of SET's determination to enhance economy and society towards sustainable growth. SET President Kesara Manchusree said, "Promoting sports is one of SET's social activities with expectation that Thai youth would increasingly turn into sports, enhancing physical and mental health. During the past two years of SET's joint-cooperation with The Table Tennis Association of Thailand (TTAT), we have discovered many young table tennis talents nationwide, and trained them for the contests, while raising overall standards and jointly arranging various contests with International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). The project has proven track recordswith overwhelming success by winning a historic gold medal for the national Thai youth at SEA Games 2015, the first ever in 32 years; as well as the SET Thailand Junior and Cadet Open, winning 11 medals, the highest in 21 years. This year the Thai team will compete in The 2016 Summer Olympics. In addition, SET also promotes table tennis as a key sport for capital market professionals, by holding the SET Table Tennis Championship for the Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Cup. Part of the revenuefrom this project will be used to fund the Thai Para table tennis team. TTAT President Piradej Pruttipruk said, "SET's support has been instrumental in the success of the youth's sports education and competition achievements as we have won regional and global leagues. This year three players from this project will go to the 2016 Olympics, namely Nanthana Komwong to compete in her fifth consecutive year,Sutasinee Sawetbut (the gold medal SEA Games winner) and Padasak Tanviriyavechakul, the first male table tennis player from this project selected to Olympics. Next year, we will host ITTF World Tour Challenge Series inThailand for the first time, while getting the Thai youth ready for the Youth Olympic Games 2018."
