Siam Commercial Bank has announced the appointment of Arthid Nanthawithaya as the bank's new President and Chief Executive Officer. Approval of the appointment was granted by the Bank of Thailand, with an effective date of July 1, 2016.
Dr. Vichit Suraphongchai, Chairman of the Executive Committee, said that "The Bank's Board of Directors has resolved to appoint Arthid Nanthawithaya as President and Chief Executive Officer. With his record of success and strong leadership, the Bank is confident that he will drive policies and important tasks to accomplish the Bank's goal of becoming the Bank of choice for our customers, shareholders, employees, and community.
Mr. Arthid, 49, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Chulalongkorn University and an MBA in Finance from The Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration, and has over 20 years of experience in finance and banking. Mr. Arthid commenced his career at Siam Commercial Bank's Treasury Department in 1994, moving to Cargill Financial Services as a hedge fund manager in 1998. In 2000, he joined Standard Chartered Bank, where he was based in Singapore for his last position as Managing Director and Regional Head of Capital Markets, Southeast Asia. Mr. Arthid re-joined SCB in 2008 as Senior Executive Vice President in charge of the Corporate Banking Group, driving the bank to leadership in that sector. He was appointed as a Board Director on April 2, 2015, and Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee on April 3, 2015.
