Central Department Store partners with credit card companies to create a new chapter in retail history in the digital age, introducing "Central Smart Shopper", the first application in the world to help users shop more conveniently by calculating promotions from every credit card company. More than 10 million baht has been invested into studying consumer behavior before developing this app. More than 100,000 downloads are expected by the end of this year, and the app aims to draw the new generation to come shop at Central, increasing the percentage of 80%.
Executive Vice President for Marketing of Central Department Store Piyawan Leelasompop talks about the origin of the "Central Smart Shopper" and How has always had joint promotions with credit cards throughout the year, and more than 70% of its customers (based on spending per year) make their purchases using credit cards. Sales Staff are often asked "Which credit card companies are offering the best deal?", and this question inspired the development of this app.
"We can confidently say that the development of the 'Central Smart Shopper' is the first in Thailand, and this is the first app of its kind in the world. It has been designed to help users calculate which credit card is offering the best deal at the time. This application was no bought readymade. Two years were spent developing this app specifically and exclusively for our customer with a cost of more than Baht 10 million in total."
Piyawan continued that the main purpose of the application is to offer a service that customers that makes their credit card spending more convenient, as well as to facilitate them in their decision making process. It also helps Central's staff to offer information about promotions and credit card point redemptions instantly. This app also supports our credit card partners. No credit card company has an application like this, so the Central Smart Shopper is the first application in the retail industry to bring together promotions and offers by every credit card company in one app.
To date, we have partnered with more than 20 banks and companies to make sure that this app offers the most comprehensive list of deals so that our customers can make the most use out of their credit card."
