IKEA urges customers who have a PATRULL safety gate and extension, PATRULL KLÄMMA safety gate and extension, or PATRULL FAST safety gate to immediately stop using it and return it to any IKEA store for a full refund.
IKEA has received customer reports where PATRULL safety gates have opened unexpectedly and children have fallen down stairs. Some of the incidents have required medical attention. We are aware of an incident reported from IKEA Thailand. A third-party investigation has shown that the locking mechanism is not reliable, posing a risk for small children, despite rigorous tests meeting applicable standards.
"At IKEA, we have a zero tolerance policy regarding child safety. We aim to offer safe and healthy products and we think that children are the most important people in the world. Whenever we receive indications of a possible safety issue with any of our products, we act. We cannot accept that there is a risk of injury while playing and as an immediate and precautionary action, we are recalling all PATRULL safety gates," says Maria Thörn, Acting Business Area Manager at Children's IKEA.
IKEA is not willing to risk the safety of any child. Therefore, it is urging all customers that have a PATRULL safety gate to stop using it immediately and return it to any IKEA store for a full refund. According to the Revenue department of Thailand (tax office), a receipt number should be stated in the credit note when issuing a refund, so we would appreciate if you can present the receipt. For customers that do not have the original receipt, we will have to refund in the form of an IKEA gift card.
IKEA has sold the PATRULL safety gate, PATRULL KLÄMMA, and PATRULL FAST in all markets in which it operates. For more information, please visit www.IKEA.co.th or contact +662-708-7999.
