Tmall Fresh, the online groceries arm of Alibaba Group's Tmall B2C platform (www.tmall.com), and Thai Fruit (1975) Company Ltd. (Thai Fruit 1975) and Guangxi Siam Fruit Agriculture Technology Company Ltd of China. ("Siam Fruit") announced today the launch of the inaugural Tmall Fresh Thai Fruit Festival in a bid to promote the online sales of premium fresh fruit from Thailand to Chinese consumers. The cooperation marks the first large-scale sales of premium Thai fresh fruit such as Monthong durians, mangosteens and narcissus mangoes to Chinese consumers via the Tmall platform. According to iResearch, Tmall.com is China's largest third-party platform for brands and retailers in terms of monthly active users as of 2015.
Thai Fruit 1975 specializes in the export of fresh seasonal fruits such as durians, mangosteens, longans and mangoes to the China market, while Siam Fruit is a leading exporter of fresh fruits in Thailand with over four years of online sales and distribution experience.
Mr. Nopporn Sawattanapisut, Managing Director of Thai Fruit 1975, said, "This cross-border e-commerce cooperation represents a tremendous opportunity for us to introduce to the Chinese consumer the wide range of fresh seasonal fruits that Thailand has to offer. Our goal in 2016 is to become a leading online fruit exporter to the Chinese market, with sales target in the first year to be around RMB7.2 million (around 35-40 million Thai baht). China's fresh fruit market is as huge as it is competitive. But Thai Fruit 1975 and Siam Fruit are committed to doing our best in developing online sales and distribution in China. We expect more and more Thai enterprises to become interested in joining the Tmall platform to reach the Chinese consumer. Our greatest advantage is our ability to source directly from fruit growers, in addition to the years of experience of our sales and distribution team. We are synonymous with quality fresh fruit and great after-sales service."
Ray He, Senior Director of Tmall Fresh, said, "As their income level continues to rise, the Chinese people are becoming more discerning consumers who demand safe and quality foods that are certified and traceable to the origin. We are extremely pleased that through this cooperation we are able to let Chinese consumers buy quality fruits directly from Thai growers and suppliers. We hope this partnership will pave the way for more Thai fruit suppliers to take advantage of the convenience and efficiency of online distribution channels to export to China."
Also in attendance at today's launch is special guest and Thai teen pop singer Golf-Pirat Nitipaisalkul, who said, "It is truly an honor to be here at the first Tmall Fresh Thai Fruit Festival. I'm an avid fan of fresh fruit of all kinds. Thailand is blessed with a rich diversity of fresh and delicious fruit no matter the season. I'm certain our friends in China will not be disappointed if they ever have the opportunity to taste them first hand."
