Bangkok--11 Aug--Vero Pr The Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD) of the Royal Thai Police is requesting the business operators in the gem and jewelry manufacturing industry to ensure that only legal and fully licensed software is used in their operations. This request comes after a raid on one of Thailand's biggest gem and jewelry manufacturers early this year. This gem and jewelry manufacturer company is owned by the foreign shareholders and has the factory and offices in a province near Bangkok. Illegal and unlicensed software was found on 156 PCs including software for design, office operations and translation. This represents one of the largest raids in Thailand this year. The gem and jewelry manufacturing industry is very important for Thailand. Therefore, we are asking for cooperation from the business operators in this industry to ensure that they are using only legal and fully licensed software in their operations in order to reduce legal and cybersecurity risks. This year ECD, the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) and the Association of Thai Software Industries (ATSI) jointly launch the Safe Software, Safe Nation campaign in order to educate both the private and public sector end-users about the correlation between illegal and unlicensed software use and malware attack and encourage them not to use illegal and unlicensed software to guard against malware and cybersecurity attacks and protect themselves and their assets. "There is a clear link between illegal and unlicensed software use and malware attack. CEO and management should not put their business at risk by overlooking use of illegal and unlicensed software that is one of the root causes of malware and cybersecurity attacks," said Pol. Col. Winai Wongbuppa.
