Five students of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has once again excelled in K-Water's Global Internship "K-Water Global Internship Program." with an AIT student Mr. Muhammad Danish bagging the best intern award.
The five students — Mr.Tun Min Kyaw of Myanmar, Mr. Sachham Man Buddhacharya of Nepal, Mr. Rubaiyath Zaman Uttal of Bangladesh, Mr. Muhammad Danish of Pakistan and Ms. Chanakarn Chanphu of Thailand, participated in the internship program at South Korea between 20 June-15 July 2016. While Kyaw and Uttal are from Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME), Sachham is pursuing his Master's in Information and Communication Technologies, Danish is from Geotechnical and Earth Resources Engineering, and Chanphu from Water Engineering and Management.
All participating students were required to prepare a self-introduction report, an internship report and an individual project report. "While the internship report focussed on activities and tasks performed during stay at K-water as Intern, the individual project report asked the participants to elaborate on the organizational culture of K-water, its attributes and solicited recommendations for improvement," Danish says. Participants also visited the Daecheong Dam and the water treatment plant which is operated by K-water.
Danish adds: "The program helped me academically, professionally and culturally by expanding my horizons." He experienced the dynamic functioning of geotechnical centrifuge modeling, which is a rare opportunity for a student. Similarly, working with 11 interns in South Korea provided me with an international multicultural experience, he adds.
Seven AIT students had participated in the K-Water internship program in 2015 and 2014 respectively, while three students had participated in 2013.
