ONESQA to join hands European for quality assurance in ASEAN countries

Bangkok--19 Aug--JC&CO Public Relations The Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment (ONESQA) is joining hands to work together with DAAD (Germany) and ENQA which is the quality assurance in higher education from European to develop the ASEAN Quality Assurance Network which start from 6 countries by 2017. Towards this objectives, all members of the AQAN are also recognizing that we need to collaborate to promote the harmonization of higher education system and also can serve as a platform for the mutual recognition of degrees and qualifications in ASEAN. As well as to lift up Thailand education quality to be the same level with International. Moreover, including fostering AQAF framework for all external quality assurance agencies in ASEAN to be in the same line. In November, 2016 there will be agencies from European together with AQAN arrange a meeting to prepare the external quality assurance in 6 countries at Manila, Philippines. ASEAN Quality Assurance Network or AQAN is joining hands to work together with DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and ENQA (European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education) to plan for developing the external quality assurance framework in higher education system in 10 ASEAN countries. By 2017, they will start from 6 countries which are Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand. The objectives for doing this activity is to attune their quality assurance system and also suggesting the best way for them to improve their system to be in the same line with International. In addition, there will be a set of principles of good practices which national quality assurance bodies and system benchmark four quadrants of framework that will be consider by the European which are 1. External Quality Assurance Agencies, 2. External Quality Assurance Policies, 3. Internal Quality Assurance of Higher Education Institutions and 4. The National Qualifications Framework. Those four factors was initiated and designed to support ASEAN higher education initiatives towards the establishment of a common space and harmonized assurance system. Lastly, European also cooperate the rest of four ASEAN countries which are Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam for helping them to have a good practice of quality assurance framework to be align the various system in ASEAN. According to the research found that 11 out of 100 University in Europe is claimed to have a highest quality and be the first class of world education because they never stop improving the quality assurance system. Moreover, this is a good opportunity for ASEAN countries to enhance the quality of higher education system across the region and will have a positive impact on the structure for better convergence amidst the diversity existing in ASEAN and also to make it become attractive for investors and more competitive.
