Mr. Nadda Buranasiri, Chief Executive Officer of Thai AirAsia X, explained that "the second flight from Bangkok to Seoul is being added in anticipation of increased demand during the upcoming travel season, especially for Thai travelers who want to visit South Korea in the autumn and winter, with the second daily flight to allow for more choice in scheduling while also reiterating our status as a Korea Expert"
Mr. Lee Woong, Director of Korea Tourism Organization, Bangkok Office, remarked "South Korea is one of Thailand's most popular destinations for tourism, especially due to the success of K-Pop and K-Dramas among the Thai youths, which has spurred more of them to visit the country on their own. Our organization congratulates and thanks Thai AirAsia X for increasing its flights from Bangkok (Don Mueang) to Seoul to twice daily to accommodate the higher number of Thai travelers to South Korea expected later this year. To mark this development, Korea Tourism Organization has collaborated with Thai AirAsia X to organize a special activity that travelers can join in online".
In the first half of the year (January-June) more than 248,000 Thai people traveled to South Korea, up 13.82% from the same period last year. Thai AirAsia X maintained an average Load Factor of 91% throughout the period, and noted Repeaters, or repeat travelers to the country, were high with most returning to find new, personal, travel experiences beyond popular sites.
Thai AirAsia X also cooperates with Thai AirAsia to offer Fly-Thru service via Don Mueang for travelers to quickly connect from regional hubs like Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Hat Yai, Phuket and Krabi to Seoul with only one check-in and baggage loading needed. Visitors from Seoul can also use the service to continue to destinations across Thailand and beyond, such as to Singapore, Yangon, Siem Reap, Jakarta, Penang and Ho Chi Minh.
