The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and Thailand Futures Exchange (TFEX), together with Muang Thai Life Assurance pcl, PTT pcl, Kasikornbank pcl along with other institutional alliances, have announced the winners of "Young Financial Star Competition 2016" with most of them from Thammasat University, and one team winners from mixed universities.
The Young Financial Star (YFS) competition, held for the 14th year, searches for the most competent young financiers from university students nationwide. This year contest has attracted over 5,640 students from 88 universities nationwide, of which 65 percent come from various provinces, competing for scholarships with domestic and overseas training programs worth over THB 6 million (approx. USD 171,428).
SET President Kesara Manchusree said, "Cultivating and crafting professionals are one of the key factors to drive competitive capability of the Thai capital market. YFS competition is one of SET's collaborative project with alliances to craft quality capital market personnel in various fields, covering investment consultants, analysts, investment bankers, financial planners including financial professionals in listed companies, benchmarking with international standard, while strengthening social responsibility mindset, with the goal to shore up strong foundation for the Thai capital market sustainability."
During all these years YFS has contributed considerable young talented professionals to the Thai capital market with growing number every year. To-date there has been more than 64,000 students in the YFS project. This year's contest has embraced a total of 198 students who have successfully passed the single license exam, while 160 students have earned derivatives licenses. On top of this, the award winners and award first runner-ups were granted scholarships for financial study trips in Thailand and overseas, as well as receiving special training and international tests, consisting of Certified Investment and Securities Analyst course (CISA) and Certified Financial Planner course (CFP) for financial advisors.
The YFS 2016 winners are 1. Nanpicha Chungsiriwat from Thammasat University, as SET Investment Star 2. Thumthiti Pinto from Thammasat University, as TFEX Derivatives Star, 3. Paphon Sirichotikul from Thammasat University as K-Expert Star, and 4. Khemjira Chuencharoensook from Thammasat University, as Muang Thai Life Assurance Star, while one student team from Thammasat University, Chulalongkorn University, and Maejo University, named "ORGANIC FUND" have been granted the PTT CSR Star Team.
