ADB officials interact with scholarship recipients

Bangkok--20 Sep--Asian Institute of Technology A delegation of two officials of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) visited the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on 8 September 2016, and interacted with senior officials of the AIT administration as well as scholarship recipients. Leading the delegation, Mr. Masashi Tanabe, Alternate Executive Director for Japan, ADB, said that he was keen to know more about the progress of the Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) scholarship program. "We would like to meet the students and obtain their feedback," Tanabe said. Mr. Tatsuya Kanai, Advisor, Office of Cofinancing Operations (OCO), ADB, who was accompanying Mr. Tanabe, spoke about the scholarship program stating that they wish to engage with their alumni and track their career progress. Welcoming them on behalf of AIT, Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, Vice President for Administration expressed AIT's gratitude for the scholarship program, adding that the Institute has a mission to contribute towards human development in Asia. Besides Prof. Yamamoto, AIT was represented by Prof. Rajendra Shrestha, Dean, School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD); Prof. Lawrence, Dean, School of Management; Prof. Pennung Warnitchai, Acting Dean, School of Engineering and Technology (SET); Prof. Kyoko Kusakabe and Dr. Nophea Sasaki of SERD; Ms. Laarni B. Roa, Dr. Tenzin Rabgyal and Ms. Christine P Pesarillo of Office of Student Affairs (OSA); and Mr. Shawn Kelly and Ms. Sumana Shrestha of Office of External Relations (OEXR). Thirteen students from five countries who are currently enrolled at AIT are supported by the scholarship program.
