Bangkok--4 Oct--Aziam Burson-Marsteller Sermsuk Public Company Limited, led by Mr.Peerapong Krinchai (2nd from left) Operations Director, and Mrs. Prangnee Chaipidaj (Left) Associate Marketing Director, recently received "Corporate Carbon Footprint" certification from Gen Surasak Kanjanakul (Center) Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, in recognition for being a climate-neutral company. Sermsuk has become a role model for other businesses thanks to its efforts to calculate, reduce, and offset its greenhouse gas emissions. The company can now label Crystal drinking water and est Cola with prestigious "Carbon Footprint" and"Carbon Footprint Reduction" labeling, as approved by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization and Thailand Environment Institute under the Federation of Thai Industries. The recognition emphasizes Sermsuk's long-term commitment to social responsibility and sustainability in response to Thailand's national policy to become a low-carbon society in line with the Prime Minister's ambitions. Sermsuk joined the carbon footprint reduction project following a review by theExcellence Center of Eco-Energy, Department of Chemical Engineering, Thammasat University. Two of Sermsuk's projects received the right to use the "Carbon Footprint" label. Its Pathum Thani plant received "Corporate Carbon Footprint Certification" forreducing fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as acting in a responsible and environmentally-sustainable manner. The new labels on Crystal drinking water and est Cola represent Sermsuk's pledge to be transparent about its carbon footprint. Highlighting its carbon footprint to consumers will help in their decision-making, allowing them to choose products that combat global warming. Building on these efforts, Sermsuk is continuing to extend the carbon footprint project to maximize its carbon emission reduction and promote environmental conservation, expanding the project to six plants nationwide. The company will also apply carbon footprint labeling to other Sermsuk products in the near future. These initiatives will position Sermsuk as a driving force in making Thailand a "low-carbon society" and to meet targets to decrease greenhouse gas emissions by 20 to 25% by 2030. This is in response to pledges the Prime Minister made at the 21st Conference of Parties on Climate Change in December 2015. Crystal drinking water already holds several quality awards. It was Thailand's first drinking water brand to receive "NSF" certification in 2002, the Quality Award from Thailand's Food and Drug Administration for three consecutive years, and ISO 22000 -Food Safety Management Systems certification. This latest Carbon Footprint certification shows that Sermsuk's brands stress the importance of product quality and environmental sustainability.
