Bangkok--6 Oct--Anantara Hua Hin Resort Anantara Hua Hin Resort recently handed out 40 free motorcycle helmets to school children to raise road safety awareness and keep young people in the community safe. The initiative is a part of "Helmet Extravaganza", a joint CSR event organised by 14 of Hua Hin's leading hotels and resorts - delivering a message of motorcycle safety with the main aim of saving the lives of young people in the community. In an attempt to minimize road crash risks to children through awareness building and education, Anantara Hua Hin invited 40 students from the Baan Bo-Fai Municipality School to visit the resort for a presentation on road safety, basic traffic rules and how to keep themselves safe while on the road. The resort also provided the children with plain motorcycle helmets, allowing them to paint and decorate them with their own unique designs. "Anantara Hua Hin is honoured to be a part of the joint Helmet Extravaganza campaign. In Thailand, motorcycles are important in providing children access to schools and we were shocked to see that less than 100,000 of kids out of the 1.3 million wear helmets when riding," said Manish Jha, General Manager of Anantara Hua Hin Resort. Statistic shows that more than 1.3 million children in Thailand travel on motorcycles, but only seven per cent of child passengers wear helmets. This results in devastating deaths and injuries of approximately 2600 and 72,000 children respectively, every year in road crashes. "By teaming up with other 13 participating hotels as well as several other local organizations to give away helmets, we could be potentially saving the lives of 1,115 local children," Mr. Jha concluded.
