To make a contribution to help conserve the true king of the ocean "Shark" in Thailand, Trocadero Group, one of the leading sole watch distributors in Thailand, is proud to introduce "Oris The Cha-Lam Special Edition", the first and ever Oris's diver watch exclusively for Thailand with its name 'Cha-Lam' – the pronunciation of 'Shark' in Thai language and the selected three significant colours red-white-blue symbolise the Thai national flag on the dial, in a limited edition of only 300 pieces.
Sharks play an extremely important role as the top predator in the food chain to help control and regulate the overall population of fish species and maintain the balance in marine ecosystems. They are also the star magnet drawing divers and tourists from all over the world to some of Thailand's best diving locations. The sighting and experiencing of swimming with the gentle giant Whale Shark is undoubtedly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Even there are several species of sharks that have been found along Thailand's coastlines but most of them are under critical threat, some are endangered from overfishing. Part of proceeds from sales of this special edition will be donated scholarship to Prince of Songkla University – Thailand's leading university with strong marine science faculty – to support the first time ever comprehensive shark population survey and conservation in Thailand (both in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand).
Oris The Cha-Lam Special Edition is custom designed with an elegant Majestic Blue on the dial while black and white colour schemes inspired by the largest species of sharks on the planet like the Whale Shark. Additionally, the red used on the bezel minute scale and second hand represent the colour palette of the red coral. These colours also help enhance the watch's legibility underwater.
The watch's 43mm multi-piece is made of stainless steel, and based on Oris's collection of high-performance Aquis diver's watch. It's powered by an automatic movement, which powers a date at 6 o'clock and water-resistant to 30 bar/300 metres. It features a unidirectional rotating bezel with a black polished ceramic inlay, a crown protection device and a robust sapphire crystal that's domed on both sides with anti-reflective coating on the inside.
The watch comes on a stainless steel bracelet, security folding clasp with an extendable buckle for your comfort. Its screwed-n case back is also made of stainless steel with an illustration of the remarkable Whale Shark emblem distinctively designed to honour this exceptional occasion, with the engraved serial numbers. It comes in a special waterproof presentation box alongside a disc stamped with Whale Shark's emblem.
