Shareholders of Goodyear (Thailand) Public Company Limited have approved plans to increase radial aviation tire production at its factory here, pending favorable market conditions. An Extraordinary General Meeting was held November 17.
"We appreciate our shareholders' confidence in management and in our plans to grow Goodyear's radial aviation tire business," said Mr. Finbarr O'Connor, managing director of Goodyear Thailand. "The world's aviation fleet, especially in Asia Pacific, is growing quickly and increasingly seeing the advantages offered by radial tires. With this expansion, Goodyear, a global leader in aviation tires, will be ideally positioned to capture this growth in demand."
Mr. O'Connor said the first phase of the three-phase expansion is targeted to be operational by 2018. The company, which employs more than 1,000 people in Thailand, expects to increase staffing by almost 100 upon completion of the project.
