The Thai Bankers Association (TBA) will host the 21st ASEAN Banking Conference and the 46th ASEAN Banking Council Meeting during November 28-30, 2016 at the Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel in Bangkok. The theme of the conference is "Enhancing and Strengthening the roles of Regional ASEAN Banks in the context of growing the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC)", with over 250 representatives from ASEAN banks participating and sharing their ideas, point of views, knowledge, and expertise.
TBA Chairman Mr. Predee Daochai said, "The ASEAN Banking Conference and the ASEAN Banking Council Meeting are ABA annual events, with member country taking turn as a host. This year, TBA is deeply honored to host the events and this is a part of the TBA's mission to promote active collaboration between commercial banks in Thailand and other ASEAN banking institutions. This year, the focus is put on the industry's transformation to better support the regional trade and exports. Currently, ASEAN's total trade is worth USD 2.27 trillion. ASEAN attracts as much as USD 136 billion in foreign direct investment. Thus, finance and banking industry plays a crucial role in facilitating the growth ASEAN region."
At the 21st ASEAN Banking Conference, the Bank of Thailand (BOT) Governor Mr. Veerathai Santiprabhob will be the guest of honor. Other various sessions touch upon technology disruptions such as FinTech and the implication and transformation required for banking industry.
