All cyclists joining this competition will enjoy with nature along the route as well as experience elegance of some important attractions. Moreover, they will also have an opportunity to enjoy with the beauty of Mekhong River, the important river of Isan people. The special features of this competition are longer distance and more challenging route with steeper land making this competition becomes the cycling tour competition with the longest distance in Thailand. This competition requires cyclists to be ready in all dimensions in order to enhance their confidence and happiness during this activity. Since there are several ways to prepare readiness for this competition, we will suggest some basic methods to all cyclists today for getting ready and applying during the competition. 1. Practice and Practice Cyclists should practice cycling with actual bicycles that they will use in the actual competition for familiarity. In addition, all cyclists must practice cycling in the actual distance or longer distance as well as practice cycling for crossing some steep bridges. Moreover, they are also required to practice gear using and switching as well as balancing themselves on bicycles that are lowing speed. Before the competition day, cyclists should sleep well at least 8 hours because insufficient sleeping may cause exhaustion. On the competition day, the speed of group cycling should be controlled not to be over than 15 kilometers per hour. For amateurs or unprofessional cyclists, they should slowly ride in group and they should learn to use appropriate gear for crossing steep bridges to relive their legs' stress. On the other hand, they should learn to use brake correctly for controlling their speed when they have to go down from any steep area or steep bridge. 2. Balance Eating for Accumulating Energy Cyclists should have a meal before cycling at least 2 hours and such meal should be consisted of carbohydrate and protein that can be digested easily. Cyclists should avoid any food with high fat content or performing any activity immediately after eating. During cycling, in the event that any cyclist require to eat any food for enhancing his/her energy, he/she should eat any food that can be digested easily, for example, resin, sun-dried banana, and sport drinks, because this kind of food can be transformed as sugar rapidly enabling our body to generate energy for cycling immediately. In addition, cyclists should bring some drinking water with them while cycling for sipping along the route. Cycling is different from other types of sports because cyclists have to move through air rapidly causing our body loses awareness of water depletion due to coolness of the wind. To relieve thirstiness, it is not drinking all amount of water immediately but we should sip some water when our lips are dry. If we are not much thirsty, sipping water every 15-20 minutes is also considered as good way to get rid of water depletion. 3. Warm-up for Avoiding and Relieving Injury Cyclists should warm-up at least 5-10 minutes before cycling to prepare their lungs and hearts as well as to stretch muscles to be ready for using and preventing cramp. 4. Check Equipment before Riding Firstly, cyclist should wear appropriate apparel for cycling with good ventilation, comfort helmet, and sun glasses for better vision at daytime and relief of UV exposure and eye burning. Then, let's check bicycle to be ready for cycling as well as check the brake whether it is too tightened or loosened. Wheels should be filled with appropriate air volume, i.e., 100 – 200 PSI for cycling tour in rural area with the distance of 100 kilometers. If you can follow these 4 suggested ways completely and correctly, your participation in this competition would be smooth without any problem but only fun. This will become such a good life experience and memory for all cyclists. However, do not forget to register for participating in this completion!
