Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer Foundation (QSCBCF), Sabina Public Company Limited and Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts, Assumption University of Thailand launched 'Check Breast Young', a campaign to persuade Thai public to be more aware about breast cancer and to educate the general public about the importance of self-examination and getting an annual mammography in an attempt to lower the current statistics of losing 12 Thai women to breast cancer daily, making it the number 1 killer of Thai women.
It is alarming that research from Globalclan shows that over 85,000 women lose the battle against breast cancer in Thailand every year. However, early detection may save your life. If detected at an early stage, chances of recovery are as high as over 90%. Education and awareness is the key to beat breast cancer as early intervention fiercely increases the chances of survival without breast-conserving surgery needed.
From an ABAC's research, many young women especially under the age 35 usually never receive enough information or think about breast cancer as it is commonly believedthat most cases occur with the age 40 and above but in fact breast cancer could occur in any age.
Mr. Sirayos Samsen, President of the student event team from Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts, Assumption University of Thailand says: "Even though every year in Thailand we have October Breast Cancer awareness month and many campaigns then to help increase awareness about breast cancer but it becomes trend for one month period only which is not enough" Mr. Sirayos adds: "Therefore and Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts, Assumption University of Thailand cooperated with Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer Foundation and Sabina Public Company Limited to organize 'Check Breast Young' campaign in order to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance to do self-examination and mammography by specialists at the hospital at least once a year, especially among teenagers and young adult".
Sabina Public Company Limited has been emphasizing the brand objective to help breast cancer situation in Thailand by running 'Sewing Cup Sewing Heart' for over 10 years. This year Sabina Public Company Limited is pleasing to support 'Check Breast Young' campaign to improve breast cancer situation in Thailand.
The 'Check Breast Young' campaign consists of many interesting activities such as games, an information session and a mini concert by O, Sipoom Benjarut, (The winner of The Voice Thailand season 5), Tar, Thitipol Bung Kumkhun, Sheena, Asama Mckenzie from The Voice Thailand season 5 and Silvy, Pavida Moriggi from The Star 7.
