Bangkok--6 Jun--TQPR
Thailand's popular young orchestra, the Siam Sinfonietta, invites lovers of music, and of canapes, to a delightful evening of music in the Dusit Hall, Dusit Thani Hotel on June 17 from7pm to 9pm.
The programme centres on the theme of 'Sehnsucht' - that powerful, uncontrollable longing that is at the very heart of classical romanticism.
Somtow Sucharitkul will preside over a diverse programme, conducting various works by the maestros of classical music. These include the Overture to Mozart's 'Idomeneo' a story of a man who sacrifices his own child to the God Poseidon in exchange for his salvation; the 'Unfinished Symphony' of Schubert, which is the very epitome of romantic longing; poignant excerpts from Stravinsky's 'Petrouchka'; and the erotic and mysterious 'Miraculous Mandarin' by Bela Bartók. A selection of surprising encores is also planned.
Included in the price of admission are soft drinks and canapes by the Dusit Thani. Wine is also available for an extra donation.
Event admission is by sliding scale donation, adult tickets are THB 1,000 while school or university age student tickets are THB 500. Seating for this exclusive event is limited and advanced reservations are strongly advised.
