Throughout July, Thailand welcomes in two of its most beloved seasonal delicacies, the King and Queen of Fruit, savory durian and the luscious mangosteen.
Durian is easily recognizable for its large size and spikey skin. But it is the addictive taste of durian that attracts new devotees every year, which cannot get enough of its creamy and sweet flesh. Mangosteen may be less visually striking, with her small size and deep purple color, but once the thick skin is opened, one of richest tastes on earth can be discovered in its milky white fruit.
Enjoyed with deep affection all over the region, these two fruits are now in season. Our talented Chinese chef at Liu, our neo-classic Chinese restaurant on the 3rd floor, has created two delightful dishes with these delicious fruits, which are too tantalizing to pass up.
The Wok-seared Rack of Lamb with Mangosteen sauce is decidedly divine, and the Chinese Sweet Crispy Puff Stuffed with Durian is a treat not to be missed. Both are available during July only!
