· CEO shares experiences and tips for real estate people to adapt to new industry environment
AP (Thailand) Public Company Limited, Thailand's leading developer of residential properties, by Mr. Anuphong Assavabhokhin, CEO together with the management recently held an orientation session for the 50 students from universities nationwide to prepare for a 2-month intensive training in the 'AP Open House 2017 – More Than a Theory' Year 2 under the supervision of AP Academy, the first institution in Thailand to be set up for comprehensive real estate learning by AP (Thailand). The students will learn about the process involved in real estate construction, marketing and sales in field work closely coached by industry experts, something they cannot get from the classroom.
In the session, the student interns were also shared experiences working in the real estate industry from Mr. Anuphong Assavabhokhin, the leader of the AP organisation, allowing them to learn a broader perspective from working in the real business environment of industry people as well as how staff in individual departments such as sales and engineering work together and the big question for all industry players have to answer in order to meet customer needs, industry competition focusing on making a difference and emerging challenges. The most important thing is the goal to deliver the best quality of life on AP-created living spaces. At the end of the session, the engineering programme students and sales & marketing programme students participated in a joint activity designed for them to learn how to work as a team and to adapt to co-workers. The activity and knowledge shared in the session can be applied tin the real work life.
Mr. Anuphong Assavabhokhin, CEO of AP (Thailand), said, "AP is committed to people development, so we are very pleased to share our knowledge and experience with the youngsters as much as we can since we can contribute to improving education for the young generation who will be the future of Thailand's real estate industry. Since we realised that real life working is not like the theories in the text books, AP Academy agreed to hold AP Open House 2017, the second year edition. The goal is to transfer knowledge and experience while allowing the students to develop their thoughts and skills through systematic actual practice with experts on hand to provide guidance to prepare the students for a career life as we look to develop Thailand's real estate industry for sustainable growth in the hope that we can play a part in driving the country forward in the international community."
AP Open House 2017 consists of two principal training programmes: civil engineering programme covering every element in the process of real estate development with this year's special focus on low-rise construction, and marketing & sales programme which is available for the first time this year. This should make industry knowledge better-rounded. The focus is on making the students understand and work in a systematic way. Once the internship is over, each student will receive a certificate from AP Academy and four outstanding interns will get an opportunity from AP (Thailand) to go on a study trip to Japan to learn more with Mitsubishi Estate Group (MEC), Japan's leading full-service real estate company as AP's business partner. AP hopes that they will be an important part of the future workforce to elevate Thailand's real estate industry up to international standards.
Mr. Kittiwut Tantiwuttikit, a fourth-year student from Kasetsart University who participated in the civil engineering programme, said, "At first I was not thinking about joining the programme because the people around me said I should get a job right away after graduation, so why waste time? But I decided to join the programme because I wanted to get some experiences before getting a job. And once in the programme, I think I made the right decision. Their executives are easy going with us. I got a chance to talk up close and personal with them. Some of the knowledge shared by AP engineers is something new to me and I think when the two-month period is over, I would be able to improve myself and to use the knowledge gained from the programme to develop the real estate industry."
Ms. Kanchanaporn Luangkhachonwit, a third-year student from Thammasat University who participated in the marketing & sales programme, said, "I'm so impressed with AP. it's such an open organisation that offers the opportunity for self-improvement and to learn by doing., and to meet the company's CEO. I was so nervous before I met him. But, actually, it's like meeting with a college senior. I learned a lot from what he taught. Like 'we do not sell houses, but we realise dreams of owning houses' and 'do your best' which are repeated time and time. It shows that AP pays attention to every little detail, which is good work principle. It made me less selfish for you have to think about what other people will benefit from what you do. I intend to use this principle in my future career."
AP (Thailand) founded AP Academy, Thailand's first institute for comprehensive learning in real estate, in October 2015 with an investment of Bht 300 million. AP Academy consists of three major structural components: 1. AP Property School for AP personnel. The school gets the company HR ready, develops its people and elevates work standards in systematic fashion 2. AP Symposium It provides a design forum. AP makes the symposium an annual event. Students, young designers and the general public can attend the forum free of charge 3. AP Open House. The programme provides university students an opportunity to train and learn the real work process in hopes that they will be able to put knowledge and theory to practice on site and to be able to work with others as they gain useful experience as well as – importantly – friendship and brotherhood forged among the would-be engineers, marketers and sellers of Thailand.
