Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya, Director of Commercial for Thai AirAsia, made known the "Chiang Mai-Ubon Ratchathani" daily direct flight has already garnered strong interest in both Chiang Mai and Ubon Ratchathani with the Load Factor Average for both the Chiang Mai-Ubon Ratchathani and Ubon Ratchathani-Chiang Mai legs of the 23 June 2017 inaugural flight at 85%. He thanked all public and private organizations as well as the media for helping to promote the new route.
The connection was launched as part of AirAsia's effort to support the nation's policy of stimulating regional economies and tourism and presents the opportunity for Chiang Mai residents to easily travel to Ubon Ratchathani while also letting the people of Ubon Ratchathani head up to Chiang Mai on a whim. Ubon Ratchathani as a destination is home to distinct cultural traditions such as its Buddhist Lent Candle Processions, this year taking place 8-10 July.
