David Martens, General Manager of Centara Grand Hua Hin was awarded with General Manager of the Year 2016. The voting was conducted among executive boardmembers and announced at the Annual General Manager's Conference atCentra by Centara Maris Resort Jomtien on 28th June, 2017." Mr. Martens is an Australian national with more than 30 years of experience working in the hospitality industry and in various countries including Maldives, Egypt, India, Vanuatu and Fiji. He joined Centara Hotels & Resorts in March 2012 as General Manager of Centara Grand Beach Resort and Villas Krabi and in 2014 was promoted to Area General Manager overseeing the Centra Anda Dhevi Resort and Spa and the opening of Centra by Centara Phu Pano Resort Krabi.
During his management of Centara Grand Krabi, Mr. Martens continued to increase the hotels financial performance, product quality and guest satisfaction which yielded results in awards from both local and international accreditation bodies such as "Tripadvisor's Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame 2015",
"Hot 25 – Spa Hotels 2012" by SmartTravel Asia.com and in terms of green initiatives under Mr. Martens' leadership, Centara Grand Krabi secured EarthCheck Gold Certification in 2015, the first hotel in Thailand to receive this recognition.
Mr. Martens was later transferred to Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua in December 2016 until present.
