Bosch opens its third manufacturing plant in Thailand Production of gasoline systems components

กรุงเทพฯ--14 ธ.ค.--ABM - Investment of more than 3.2 billion baht in total (80 million in euros), the largest investment yet by Bosch in Thailand - New location with advanced manufacturing facilities as well as a research and development center - Bosch applying Industry 4.0 technologies in alignment with the government's Thailand 4.0 policy Bosch officially opens its third manufacturing plant in Thailand. The global supplier of technology and services' new manufacturing plant located at the Hemaraj Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate in Rayong will begin producing a diverse range of mobility solutions products and technologies such as components for gasoline and diesel engines, electric and compressed natural gas (CNG) drives, and fuel cells for the local and global market. Bosch has invested more than 3.2 billion baht in total (80 million euros) in the new location, which lies around 130 kilometers east of Bangkok and provides a total floor space for industrial use of some 10,000 square meters. The new manufacturing plant was inaugurated by Mr. Jan Scheer, Deputy of Mission and Head of Economic Affairs, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bangkok, Mr. Stefan Seiberth, President of Gasoline Systems, Robert Bosch GmbH, and Mr. Martin Hayes, President at Robert Bosch SEA, together with other Bosch executives. Mr.Scheer commented that „By expanding Bosch's activities, the company becomes even more a part of the "Made in Germany" success story. "Made in Germany" is still one of the high unique characteristics customers can rely on with regard to engineering, innovation and design - in Thailand as well as in the rest of the world. The reliability and the continuous quality of products "Made in Germany" are reasons why German companies are able to export their products into the whole world and I am happy to see that Thailand also has a contribution to this success." Increased competitiveness through advance manufacturing facilities including Industry 4.0 from Bosch Bosch's newly established manufacturing facility consists of three focal areas. The first area consists of fuel injector lines for passenger cars, motorcycles, scooters, and power sports (i.e. boats, snow mobiles), which requires meticulous clean room technology to avoid small particles influencing the functionality of injectors. The second area is a connector production line that sees the process from plastic granulate to the inspection of the finished product complete with its own tool shop, and lastly a knock sensor production line. The plant is also equipped with a research and development center which focuses on the development of gasoline systems products and solutions. In addition, the center offers engineering services to other Bosch locations as well as local and global customers. Bosch is a leading player in the provision of Industry 4.0 solutions and innovations having applied this technology to connected manufacturing, and paving the way for further innovations that will drive transformation globally. The manufacturing facility in Rayong is no exception, being highly automated with connected manufacturing technologies, and incorporating proprietary Industry 4.0 solutions from Bosch. "The opening of our new plant enables us to serve the growing base of local and global OEM vehicle manufacturers and technologically positions us at the forefront of the industry," said Mr. Seiberth. "This is our first research and development facility in the country, thus underlining Thailand's role and strategic importance for the Bosch Group in alignment with the country's strategic direction moving towards the value-based economy". Mr. Hayes reinforced this message concluding that, "Our investment in the country is also in support of Thailand's strong focus on promoting advanced technologies and expertise to boost the country's competitive edge in the long run. Thailand will now host the latest and one of our most modern production facilities and I am looking forward to all the innovations and developments that will come from it."
