Bangkok--20 Dec--Dacon Inspection Services
PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) represented by Mr. Phongsthorn Thavisin, President, Exploration and Production, and Dacon Inspection Services (Dacon Inspection Services Co., Ltd) represented by Mrs. Mallika Kaekla, Chief Executive Officer, together signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on knowledge sharing and research & development project to advance innovation in inspection technology, corrosion and integrity management and drive operational safety, sustainability and reliability to a new level of oil and gas industry.
PTTEP and Dacon Inspection Services have already been working together for 15 years on asset integrity and are at the forefront of the industry in Thailand. The MOU is aimed at developing new inspection technology, evolving existing inspection technology for offshore and onshore oil and gas operations whilst ensuring the highest levels of environmental integrity are sustained.
This collaboration follows on from the recent successful research and development of the world's first subsea pipeline material sampling tool which was built through close collaboration between PTTEP and Dacon Inspection Services. This ultra-specialized tool is capable of navigating deep sea pipelines and stopping at preset intervals in order to drill into the internal pipe wall, collect samples and then return them to the surface where they can be analyzed. This technology is a world first and is critical in the safe decommissioning of offshore pipelines.
