Tata Steel (Thailand) Plc will organize the "TATA STEEL MINI MARATHON 2018 Run for War Veterans", its first running event in Thailand to mark the Thai Veterans Day on 3 February as well as to honour and express moral support for war veterans who have sacrificed for the country. Categorized into the distance of five kilometres, 10.5 kilometres and 16 kilometres, the charity run will take place on Sunday 25 February 2018 at The Crystal PTT Chaiyapruek, Nonthaburi, and all proceeds will be donated to the War Veterans Organization of Thailand on the occasion of its 70th anniversary in order to purchase medical equipment and support war veterans and their families.
Rajiv Mangal, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tata Steel (Thailand), said the company has always been committed to good corporate citizenship based on responsibility to community, society and the environment in every country in which it operates. Realizing the importance of good health to the progress of society and the admirable role of war veterans in preserving the country's security, Tata Steel is holding the "TATA STEEL MINI MARATHON 2018 Run for War Veterans" to encourage people to take exercise for health and at the same time showing gratitude to the selfless war veterans by raising funds for the War Veterans Organization of Thailand to support its objectives.
General Sampan Tanyapuch, Director of the War Veterans Organization of Thailand (WVO), said the organization's main mission is to honour war veterans' sacrifces in battles and provide support for them and their families, as some war veterans have been injured or lost their organs and become unable to earn a living like normal people do. He thanked Tata Steel for organising the "TATA STEEL MINI MARATHON 2018 Run for War Veterans" and runners who have signed up for the event, saying the proceeds will be helpful for war veterans and their families and that running will be beneficial to the health of all participants.
