Mitsubishi Motors Thailand is Confident for 2018: Buoyed by Growth Momentum and an outperforming 2017

Bangkok--9 Feb--Mitsubishi Motors Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd. recently announced that its sales growth of 26 percent double of market growth in CY2017. Its market share reached 8.0 percent compared with CY2016 at 7.2 percent. The company registered a total sales volume of 69,737 units. By comparison, the market grew by 13 percent – the first growth in 5 years, with a total industry volume of 871,650 units. In terms of total volume based on models, Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck led with total sales of 32,450 units, representing a YoY growth of 38 percent. Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, the company's second best-selling model sold a total of 14,454 units, and gained 24 percent of the PPV (Pickup-Based Passenger Vehicle) segment. City cars including Mitsubishi Attrage and Mitsubishi Mirage had a combined total of 22,833 units, representing a YoY growth of 42 percent. Mr. Morikazu Chokki, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd. said, "Our overall performance in 2017 was very positive. The strength of our products, marketing activities and customer satisfaction towards our services allowed us to post a much higher growth compared with the industry average. And our overall production as well as export remain strong." Mitsubishi Motors Thailand had a string of successful launches in 2017, starting with Mitsubishi Triton Black Edition, and followed by Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2WD. Mitsubishi Attrage and Mitsubishi Mirage were launched in May 2017, before Mitsubishi Triton was unveiled to the public in October the same year. The latest product launch was the global unveiling of Mitsubishi Triton Athlete at the 34th Bangkok International Motor Expo 2017. Mitsubishi Motors Thailand's range of products are currently supported by a network of 217 outlets. Mitsubishi Motors Thailand's role of being Mitsubishi Motors Corporation's production and export has been increasing significantly. In 2017, its total production increased 3 percent YoY with CKD portion of 11 percent from percent in 2016. And its total export (BU and CKD) increased percent YoY with CKD export portion of 13 percent from 5 percent in 2016. The results reflect how Mitsubishi Motors Thailand has played a key role in supporting Mitsubishi Motors production in other countries. "We are starting 2018 on a very positive note. We are confident we can carry this growth momentum into the year," Chokki added. "For 2018, our focus will continue on customer satisfaction and delivering quality products and services. We will also be launching 2 new models including Mitsubishi XPANDER which is one of Thailand's most awaited models, 3 new model year products, and 4 special editions to enhance our growth and strengthen our market position," Mr. Chokki concluded. For this year, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand expects to achieve market share higher than 8.0 percent as it expects a total automotive industry growth of 3 percent, with a total industry volume of 900,000 units.
