Bangkok--6 Mar--Asian Institute of Technology Dr. Anil Kumar Anal of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has published a book on "Bionanotechnology: Principles and Applications." Released by CRC Press in February 2018, the 189-page book is designed for broad accessibility to students and researchers of both engineering and natural sciences. Dr. Anil Kumar serves as the Head of Department of Food, Agriculture and Bioresources (FAB) in AIT's School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD). Says Dr. Anil, "Biological systems are essential in nanotechnology, and many new applications are being developed by mimicking the natural systems." The book seeks to provide the reader with broader knowledge of biological methods for signal transduction and molecular recognition systems and how they can be replicated in bio-sensing applications. Readers will learn the basic structures and interactions of biomacromolecules for developing bio-compatible and eco-friendly devices, Dr. Anil adds. Approaching topics from an engineering perspective, the book offers insight nanoscale fabrication processes as well as cell biology including the uptake and health aspects of engineered nanoscale biomaterials and nano-devices. The basics of biology and chemistry, with a focus on how to engineer the behavior of molecules at nanoscale are also explored and analyzed.
