Bangkok--9 Mar--ESCAP-SCAS
28-30 March 2018, Bangkok, Thailand
The Fifth Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) will be held from 28 to 30 March in Bangkok, with stakeholders set to review regional progress made on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ahead of the High-Level Political Forum at the UN Headquarters in July this year.
In line with the high-level forum, this year's APFSD theme will be 'Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies.' The set of goals to be reviewed in depth will be Goal 6 (clean water and sanitation), 7 (affordable and clean energy), 11 (sustainable cities and communities), 12 (responsible consumption and production), 15 (life on land) and 17 (partnership for the Goals). Interlinkages among these goals and the other Sustainable Development Goals will also be discussed.
Organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the forum will provide a platform for countries to share regional perspectives, support the presentation of their voluntary national reviews, and assess progress made on the regional road map for implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific.
APFSD will be preceded by a civil society forum, including a capacity building workshop for countries submitting voluntary national reviews to the high-level forum and other events.
