Thai interactive art creators, 'Living Spirits', debuts its light installation, "Chandelier of Spirits", inspired by the morning beverage habits of office workers and to symbolize Singapore's workforce. Selected as one of 22 enthralling light art installations by international artists from 14 countries around the world, Chandelier of Spirits by Living Spirits from Thailand will be on display at i Light Marina Bay 2018 from 9 March to 1 April from 19:30 to 23:00 around the Marina Bay Waterfront, Singapore.
Organized by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) of Singapore, the sixth edition of the sustainable light art festival, i Light Marina Bay 2018, will feature installations created by artists from around the world. Designed with energy-saving lighting, recycled or environmentally-friendly materials, the light art installations reinforce Marina Bay's position as a sustainable precinct, and serve as reminders to festival goers and the public to adopt eco-aware habits in their everyday lives.
Living Spirits: interactive art creator with a passion to spark conversation
Living Spirits is a collective that listen, observe, question, create conversation, and make connections with people through arts. They believe there are two sides to every story, and their main goal is to tell the story which cannot be seen with our eyes but only with our hearts.
Through their artwork, they invite interaction in order to complete the art's message. With the help of technology, they strive to create the most meaningful interaction with the art. Social issues are inspiration to the concept of their work but they let each audience complete the story via their interaction. The artwork is a synergy of people, technology and art.
Chandelier of Spirits: morning energy that illuminate the night sky
Coffee is an essential drink for many of the office workers in Singapore and Thailand who contribute to the country's growth and success. As a symbol of the hard-working and can-do spirit of Singapore's workforce, more than 1,400 cold brew coffee bottles were collected to create this installation which lights up the city after sunset, the same way they light up our energy during the daytime.
Chandelier of Spirits is a light installation art that can also interact with people who visit. The lights will shine and flicker as more people approach the works and dim when people are away.
Sasis Suwonpakprak, Founder of Living Spirits, says, "I've always been drawn to interactive arts, museums and light arts. Every time I travel to one of these events, I always ask myself what makes a quality artwork on an international level - my dream is to one day to be able to display my work amongst the world's greatest artist. The debut of Chandeliers of Spirits at i Light Marina Bay 2018 in Singapore is a great milestone and accomplishment for the team and me. We would not be here if it wasn't from the hard work of my lead artist, designer and production team. To see a year of hard work come to fruition is one of the moments."
Community interaction completes the artworks
This year, the public can look forward to a showcase of 22 light art installations from 14 countries, including Singapore, Canada, Poland, Hungary, Spain, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Malaysia, France, Netherland, Italy, and Thailand. Three of these installations will be created with used bottles and containers contributed by the community and by corporate partners.

Chandelier of Spirits by Living Spirits from Thailand is a display of 1,400 suspended glass and plastic coffee bottles, inspired by the morning beverage habits of office workers and symbolizing a gathering of Singapore's workforce.
Transistable Plastic by Luzinterruptus (Spain)
Transistable Plastic by Luzinterruptus from Spain is one such artwork – a large-scale installation created using multiple panels encased with plastic waste to promote awareness of the amount of waste we generate in our daily lives. And Milk Bottle Cows by Singapore-based artist BP Loh aims to encourage recycling and upcycling through a showcase of life-sized "cows" created with some 2,000 plastic milk bottles.

The line-up of light art installations this year was curated by a panel of professionals and practitioners from the fields of arts, architecture, urban planning and lighting.
