Bangkok--22 Mar--FYI SETA 2018 STARTS Asia's Sustainable Energy and Technology Expo has entered its third consecutive year, this time taking place under a "Towards Consolidated Innovative Energy Technology" theme that highlights new technological innovations for Thailand 4.0 [BANGKOK International Trade and Exhibition Center (BITEC) – March 21, 2018 -Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister Air Chief Marshal Dr. Prajin Juntong today presides over the opening ceremony of "Sustainable Energy Technology Asia 2018" (SETA 2018) international symposium and exhibition, held under a "Towards Consolidated Innovative Energy Technology" theme. The opening ceremony also features honorable presences of Transport Minister Mr. Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, Digital Economy and Social Affairs Minister Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, Director General, Energy Policy and Planning Office Dr. Tawatchai Sutabutr and Deputy Permanent Secretary Suwanna Jungrungrueng. They are welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tatchai Sumitra, chairman of SETA 2018. SETA 2018 Chairman Prof. Dr. Tatchai said that Thailand has hosted SETA 2018 with full support from related ministries and government agencies. The event is aimed at underlining Thailand's leadership in energy, innovations and technology in the region. The event is also a platform for showcasing the country's readiness in term of human resources needed to lead Thailand to becoming a hub for exchanging knowledge and know-how in innovative technology and sustainable energy, in line with the "Towards Consolidated Innovative Energy Technology" concept. The event targets an issue that the world as well as Asia have to focus on, which is "smart cities." In 2050, the world's urban population is expected to reach 2.4 billion people, or 66 percent of the world's total population. The continuous city expansion has brought new challenges concerning how the rapidly-growing urban population will live and work happily and efficiently. To cope with the challenges, the "smart cities" concept as demonstrated at SETA 2018 must be embraced. The highlights at SETA 2018 include renewable energy – electricity, wind power, natural oil and gas, digital technology, electric and hybrid cars and battery power, education and competition zone focusing on energy saving. More activities at SETA 2018 involve "Smart Urbanization" exhibition, which presents models of future metropolis with various elements of environmentally-friendly transportation such as EV, light rail trains and shared bikes. To be highlighted are green buildings _ with vertical garden to help eliminate pollution and purify the air, renewable energy such as solar panels and wind power from vertical wind turbines, small cargoes that help save time, save energy and reduce road traffic. There are also vertical vegetable gardens and intelligent farms for urban residents so that people would eat fresh vegetables throughout the year at the lowest cost. The 10 factors that make them smart cities are as followed: 1.SETA SMART Energy: Energy-saving building that can self-generate electricity from solar panels and wind turbines.
