Bangkok--26 Mar--Thai AirAsia
Thai AirAsia began flying daily and direct from Bangkok to Chumphon on 25 March 2018 with state officers and representatives of the local private sector welcoming the inaugural flight's high load factor of 91 percent while passengers received a 50 THB discount for shuttles to and from Chumphon Airport.
Ms. Witchunee Kuntapeng, Head of Guest Service for Thai AirAsia, said the Bangkok- Chumphon route has been well received with the load factor of its inaugural flight at 91 percent, likely due to Chumphon being a much awaited destination. The addition maintains AirAsia as the airline with the most routes in the Thai south and was strongly supported by public and private agencies, with representatives presenting to welcome the inaugural flight. Chumphon Governor, Mr. Narong Polla-iad; Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand's Chumphon Office, Mrs. Wiriya Kaenkaew; Director of Chumphon Airport, Mr. Amporn Phakdee; as well as representatives of the Chumphon Chamber of Commerce, Chumphon Tourism Business Association and local offices were all attending the event.
AirAsia gifted its passengers with special 50 THB discounts for shuttle bus rides between Chumphon Airport and downtown Chumphon, allowing passengers with a Bangkok-Chumphon or Chumphon-Bangkok boarding pass to ride the regularly 150 THB shuttle for only 100 THB. The privilege can be accessed at the Fame Tour counter at the airport or at the Fame Tour shop on Saladaeng road in Muang district of Chumphon today to 31 May 2018. Moreover, an Island Transfer to Koh Tao will begin service for AirAsia passengers in April 2018.
"AirAsia's new route to Chumphon reiterates the advantage as the airline with the most extensive network in the Thai south with 9 destinations served by 19 routes, totaling over 69 flights a day. The route is great for tourists as well as locals who need to travel back and forth to the province while also supporting the government's policy of promoting secondary cities toward economic growth. AirAsia anticipates the route will be very well received," Ms. Witchunee said.
AirAsia currently operates 19 routes to the Thai south, flying from Don Mueang Airport to the 9 destinations of Surat Thani (6 flights a day), Nakhon Si Thammarat (5 flights a day), Hat Yai (10 flights a day), Phuket (18 flights a day), Krabi (7 flights a day), Narathiwat (1 flight a day), Trang (3 flights a day), Ranong (1 flight a day) and Chumphon (1 flight a day).
