Mr. Niwat Sutemechaikul, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives has presided over the Launching Ceremony of the First Poultry Products Shipment from Thailand to Yunnan Province of the People's Republic of China.
Thai Agriculture and Cooperatives Vice Minister Mr. Niwat Sutemechaikul, who presided over a ceremony to celebrate the first shipment, said that Thailand had been exporting poultry meat products both fresh and cooked to the People's Republic of China for so many years. However, due to an outbreak of the bird flu in Thailand in 2004, China had put the ban on poultry imports from Thailand and the trade on poultry meat products between the two countries has stopped. In 2017, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has started a policy to promote the exportation of livestock products. Therefore, the Department of Livestock Development invited Chinese audit team to evaluate whether the Thai official control systems for poultry meat and poultry meat products and also the 19 slaughter houses intended for export to the People's Republic of China can provide equivalent guarantees to those required by Chinese legislation. The result of this successful evaluation mission has brought both countries to a co-signed protocol on Frozen Poultry Meat and By-Products to be exported from Thailand to China. The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives would like to congratulate all the relevant organization, both public and private sectors, for your contribution to make this first shipment possible, and also helping to strengthen a very good relationship in both trade and other collaboration between Thailand and China.
Somchuan Ratanamungklanon, D.M.V., Deputy Director General of the Department of Livestock Development also said that on 6th March 2018, the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People's Republic of China (CNCA) has registered for approval of 7 Thai chicken meat production establishments, which enable Thailand to export chicken meat to the Guanlei Port in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan province starting 7th March 2018. The first shipment today is comprising of 14 containers, worth around 35 million baht. We estimated that with the exportation from these 7 establishments, it will bring the sale value to around 7,000 million baht per year. But in the future, If we can get all the 19 establishments approved, the sale value will be up to 20,000 million baht per year.
