Travellers from Angeles and Mabalacat in the Clark region in the Philippines will now be able to enjoy low fares commencing today with Jetstar Asia's direct services to Osaka, the second most metropolitan city in Japan.
The inaugural Jetstar Asia flight from Clark to Osaka, the first of three return services a week, took off today at the Clark International Airport (CRK), said Jetstar Asia CEO, Mr Bara Pasupathi who was on board the flight.
"As the only airline flying direct services between Clark and Japan, our travel partners tell us that visitors and business travellers will be able to take advantage of our low fares and the convenient schedule spread over the weekday and weekend.
"We know from experience that low fares stimulate demand and increases the number of people taking flights. As more and more Japanese businesses establish themselves in Clark, Jetstar is well-positioned to support the travel between the two countries," said Mr Pasupathi.
"With the Philippine government's ongoing infrastructure programme to convert and develop the New Clark City metropolis, this will present Jetstar, the opportunity to be a key aviation partner for change here," said Mr Pasupathi.
President and CEO of Clark International Airport Corp, Mr Alexander Cauguiran said: "Clark International Airport is now being aggressively pushed by the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte as Asia's next premier gateway.
"The new Jetstar Clark-Osaka flights will not only boost our operations but validate Clark Airport's marketability and viability as an international hub.
"More than 20 million residents in the Central and Northern Luzon will also be able to choose to fly from Clark International Airport as well as Manila, where Jetstar Asia also flies out of," said Mr Cauguiran.
Jetstar continues to deepen our presence in the Philippines with this route as the airline will now operate up to 44 services to Osaka, Nagoya, Narita and Singapore from Manila and Clark.
The thrice-weekly new service will be operated by Jetstar Asia's 180-seat Airbus A320. To book flights, visit Jetstar.com.
